Compass Project

The Compass project aims to develop inclusive spaces that will serve and engage the local and wider community in Aberdeen City & Shire.

Compass aims to demonstrate practical solutions for more healthy, sustainable lifestyles. The project will showcase and make accessible to the local and wider community sustainable building practices with conservation of the listed main building an integrated health and educational approach supported by the natural environment & built sustainable social enterprise projects serving the local community organic/biodynamic land use with nutritious food production, bee hives, wild flower meadow and woodland repair, reuse and recycle practices. Our community garden, tended by our weekly and monthly volunteers, uses no dig beds to emphasise the reincorporation of carbon rich humus into the soil by micro and macro-organisms as a carbon sink while improving the soil structure and productivity. Ultimately, we plan to have a zero-waste kitchen to provide training in preparation of the food grown on site.
